tale of two sessions
<====== Begin Dribble
i played last night for about 80 minutes and at the end of it, here were my thoughts:
i hope to hell it was a case of dropping a little over a buy-in that the poker gods meant to be a 4.5BI loss, but i carved out the fat by dodging bullets.Â
in an non-typical night, i stacked three folks by:
- KK>TT aipf
- AA>KK
- set>FD ai on the flop
but, i ran into:
- AA<J7 flopping middle pair, turning second pair
- QQ<set (2 streets)
- AQ two pair<AK two pair
- AK tp/tk<turned flush
- AA<FD ai on flop
- AQ tp/tk<KK
assorted but related nonsense
so, i think i played relatively well – though certainly not mistake free. and, i think it could have been a much worse affair, although i’m bothered by having pulled in a few stacks and still ending the night down.
after sun-up: i got in another session, while the wife walked the dogs, so that takes about an hour. i got that BI back plus a little, ending the  750 hand stretch at 7.5ptbb/100. i got there by taking one stack off a guy i had a note on, and picking spots that worked as far as taking down blinds and isolating/cBetting.
======== End of Worthless Dribble –>
i think i’m playing a lot better than probably ever before, and i’m also wondering why it took this long, lol.Â
SPORTS – i’m assembling a list of events i’d go see if i could get tickets. ready for this?
1. B.C. Eagles football game in Chestnut Hill. Shinskie, one of the QB prospects, lives up the street from the tavern. if he makes it as a starter, and doesn’t suck, it’d be great to see him play. besides, i did a stint at B.C. for AP classes way back, and i’d like to see the campus again. AND, the daughter will probably be dragged along so she can see the campus. i wonder if that means i’ll have to take her to see Harvard too?
2. Cornell Big Red Men’s Ice Hockey – they play Harvard at home, and the chances of getting tickets to that are roughly zero. but, they play B.U., the defending champs, at Madison Square Garden on Saturday after Thanksgiving. that’s a bigger venue, and i think there’s a shot for tickets to that. although i’d much prefer to see a game in Lynah.
3. Flyers/Bruins in Fenway on January 1st. which would mean new year’s in boston – or Hopkinton most likely. i’m NOT paying over $250 a ticket though, so i’d crank the odds meter way down on that one. it’ll be an event for sure, but i’d MUCH rather toss out $250 for a home game seat in Philly should they ever make the cup finals.
