more card removal

last night i got in a session after work (3-4am) and i think it went like this . . . leak, leak, leak, double up, leak, leak, leak, double up, leak, etc.

and the leaks were a mix of “oh, i shouldn’t have done that.  fix that next time” and “i think he’s screwing with me, but i’m not willing to go with this – guess i’d better tighten up”.  then of course, i’d find one i could go with and voila, big pot takedown.

then, near the end of the session i have this hand . . .
$50.00 USD NL Texas Hold’em – Sunday, August 02, 04:19:38 ET 2009

Seat 6 is the button
Seat 1: HERO ( $63.10 USD )
Seat 3: ratBastard ( $50.00 USD )
Seat 4: fheija ( $115.40 USD )
Seat 5: popsicle17 ( $12.00 USD )
Seat 6: Kinneging ( $50.00 USD )
HERO posts small blind [$0.25 USD].
ratBastard posts big blind [$0.50 USD].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to HERO [  As Ad ]
fheija folds
popsicle17 folds
Kinneging folds

small blind with AA, usual steal-sized raise
HERO raises [$1.25 USD]
ratBastard raises [$4.75 USD]

decide to flat with it, and check the flop to pick up the inevitable cBet – villan’s stats said so.
HERO calls [$3.75 USD]
** Dealing Flop ** [ 2s, Th, Kc ]
HERO checks
ratBastard bets [$7.50 USD]
HERO calls [$7.50 USD]

plan proceeds.  now, he could have a ten/99-AA/AK, in my mind.  if it’s AK or KK/TT stacks should go in.
** Dealing Turn ** [ Kd ]

complete pisser.

HERO checks
ratBastard bets [$18.25 USD]

pisser continues.  and now i’ve decided if i’m in for another penny, i’m in for a pound.  that’s a 3/4 pot bet, so either he has TT and is hoping i love my AK, or he has the AK and i’m screwed.  i discounted the quads now.  which made me think that, since i have Aces, and there are two kings on the board he’s got [3 combos of AK + 1 combo of KK + 3 combos of TT] to beat me.  i beat . . .

well, let’s see.  is this a good spot to barrel?  i flat oop, and call a cBet.  i obviously have a middle pair.  you need to follow up with another barrell to get me to fold my 9′s.  i have a lot of cards in the hand that he’s repping blocked.

HERO calls [$18.25 USD]
** Dealing River ** [ Td ]

there goes the pocket tens theory.  at this point i guess i could sit and think what does he call with and what does he bet with, and in the end i thought betting here only ever gets called by better, while checking usually gets every king to bet, and some small percentage of the time i’ll elicit that last ditch effort to get me off my hand.

HERO checks
ratBastard bets [$19.00 USD]
HERO calls [$19.00 USD]
ratBastard shows [Qd, Jc ]
HERO shows [As, Ad ]

so much for 3betting QJ.  i’m not posting this to show that i can get married to Aces and move a stack in there.  i actually had these thoughts, and i’m not sure if i had a solid understanding of the situation that just took a little balls to go with – or if i’m thinking myself in circles and got lucky.  either way, that’s a glimpse of the truth from yesterday late-night.
