mai tais
yep – the Boston College Screamin Eagles. here’s a snippet of shin’s coach’s thoughts on his work so far in practice:
“Rust implies to me that he’s done it before. He hasn’t done it before. He’s a rookie freshman, and it looks it. There are some athletic skills there, but some of the other stuff, the intangible stuff . . .” Spaziani said with a shake of the head.”
i’ve done that head shake myself over david’s words or actions, so to me, THAT is Funny.
haven’t blogged because i’ve been stuck trying to get my taxes in order. i have an extension, but the accountant sicked the mean accountant lady on me – so i guess it’s time. i love this going over every check i wrote for an entire year thing. it does have upsides though. i hope to be finished in about four more hours. and then, i’ll actually have some sense of relief and probably a pop of energy to go forward with. yay.
had a speak with the boy child earlier in the week. somehow, when a son of mine says the following words . . . “No, I won’t do it.” there’s this almost mystical thing that takes place.
my father-of-a-son ears don’t hear those words. instead, they seem to pick up “dad, please pick me up and throw me off of a wall in order to help make it clear that there is one big dog in this house. it will also help me fully realize my place in the family, and make me happy to know where i stand and how i can contribute.”
of course my luck is that there’s a lot of bricks in this house. and i just don’t think parents should be biffing their kids off of brick walls. so there were no indoor flying lessons that night.
i, uh, did play cards afterwards and ended up in a full blown rage tiltfest (shocker?). and the other sessions i snuck in during the week ended poorly as well; i had completely derailed the train for a while. got in a session last night where i failed to spaz out, managed not to lose, and actually felt like i had righted the ship. now of course, it’ll take a bit of time to crawl out from the hole i put myself in as far as results go. so be it.
the boy and i are on the same page, this tax thing is almost finished (except for the check at the end, lol), and other things are falling in line.
Pork BBQ:
went to a jam (a gatorade gig becasue it was so stinkin hot) last saturday. one of the fellows had done a pulled pork BBQ. it was phenomenal. so, i ask how he did it. hmmph. put it on a 225 degrees until the meat makes it up to 200 degrees. takes 14 hours in this instance.
i’ve heard that advice several times, and never followed it. how many times was i going to have to hear it before i’d do it? what’s the point of having someone tell you how to do something if you’re not going to listen? yeah, waiting 14 hours sucks, but if you try taking shortcuts, you’ll get shortcut results.
i have a jam coming up tonight. should be a good one. then work all day tomorrow (2 till 2). hopefully hockey on Sunday.
Oh – the Mai Tai’s. i learned how to make them. thought they’d be sweet. they aren’t. but, you can drink more than two of them without having your stomach start doing flips.
ok, i’m off.

There is nothing Screamin about the Boston College Eagles.
