Songs from the Outhouse
hey guys, i’ve been getting some requests for some songs, from a lot of different directions. the studio stuff isn’t scheduled for mixdown until next week, so i spent some time breaking down the Mossy Point gig into song-sized chunks.
so, what we have here is live music. no overdubs, so if we played a sour note, it’s in there. i call that “with boogers and all”. whatever was miked and came out of the PA system made it to tape. if you were close enough to the stage and yelled loud enough, you made it too.
no reverbs (although there are some odd delays tossed in for who knows what reason). we were playing on ridge, basically to the mountains in front and behind us, and the valleys in between. mother nature made everything sound big during the performance, so it sounds dry as toast on tape. so be it. if you have a mixer and reverb tank, burn it to disk and run it through the board. sweeten it up.
if you’re playing it through WindowsMediaPlayer - use the graphic EQ (View/Enhancements/GraphicEqualizer). this stuff wasn’t prepped for commercial production, so it won’t sound like a record. but if you tweak it, it just might be close enough for rock and roll
the pieces don’t contain anything close to impressive drumming, but it wasn’t a Berkley audition, it was a rock and roll show. :) so, without further adeiu . . .
Mossy Point - June (maybe July, i don’t remember) 2008
Get Away - the second song of the set. the first one (slither) i clipped the kick mike about 30 times. horrid, of no use. the soundman got this to salvageable, so i salvaged it. lots of adrenaline. i like it.
Remedy - from Seether. it was dark, couldn’t see if there was a pit. i think i this is the end of the adrenaline, and it culminated with stuff getting knocked over. hit it, and it will fall.
Would - alice in chains. mellowing a bit.
Night Train - playing the classics.
Witchita into the Trooper - sounds from across the pond. ok, Witchita is really 7 Nation Army, slower, and heavier. man i love feedback.
Aces of Spades - my favorite Lemmy quote: “Why not? Run it up the flagpole, see who salutes” also, they killed on the Young Ones <smirk>
Fairies Wear Boots - nothing better than playing Sabbath full volume, outdoors in the mix of stagelights and the pitch black beyond them, to the mountainside.
Psychotherapy bleeding into the Mountain Song - punk, and quasi-hypnotic post-punk.
there are other tracks, and if you want them, just shoot me an email. it’s easier to burn off disks from here out than to keep uploading the rest of the set, to be honest.
as i gather more tunes, i’ll post up links. there’s the upcoming studio stuff and a list of widely varying stuff from the back catalog stretching from folk (yes, like John Prine and Bob Dylan) to deathGrind with gore lyrics, to cyber-punk (god i love the sounds of industrial music put to rock) to psychedelic to all-out noise, to basic rock to . . . ??? hehe, maybe i’ve been playing for longer than i thought, lol.
